School Board Appoints New Principal for Lincoln Elementary School
Ronald J. Kitsko was appointed the new principal for Lincoln Elementary School at the July 21, 2014 School Board meeting. A date has not been set when Mr. Kitsko will join the District.
Summer Hours
All Mt. Lebanon School Buildings are closed on Fridays through August 8. Some Central Office and high school administrative offices have been relocated due to construction at the high school. Click the link above for summer hours and summer office locations.
Sending Them on Their Way: A Memorable 100th Commencement
This year's commencement ceremony turned out to be one of the best, even though the weather didn't cooperate. The Main Gym was put to excellent use as the indoor site for graduation due to the torrential rain, high winds, and a tornado watch that moved into the area before the ceremony.

High School Construction Photo Update
The high school construction project is moving along with work taking place in all areas of the academic building. The old South Gym is a hub of activity as its being renovated into the new Center Court. This space becomes the heart of the new school where each major area of the building will flow through and around this space on multiple levels. This space also becomes the new cafeteria. Slideshow
Mt. Lebanon School District Recognized Nationally for Music Education Efforts
The NAMM Foundation recognizes the Mt. Lebanon School District for its outstanding commitment to music education with a Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) designation.
Mt. Lebanon School District Ranked #1 in Pittsburgh Business Times Guide to Western PA Schools
The Mt. Lebanon School District is the top-ranked school district in western Pennsylvania, according to the 2014 Pittsburgh Business Times' Honor Roll Rank. Mt. Lebanon High School and Jefferson Middle School were also ranked as the top 11th grade and 8th grade in the region. All 10 schools received high rankings that led to the overall top finish for the school district.
Mt. Lebanon Ranks in Top Ten of Digital School Districts
The Mt. Lebanon School District ranked among the top school districts in the nation in the tenth annual Digital School Districts Survey by the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association.

School Board Approves Final Budget for 2014-15 School Year
At the May 19, 2014 School Board meeting the Board approved a Final Budget for the 2014-2015 School Year in the amount of $87,924,509 setting the millage rate at 23.15 mills, a .54 mill increase over the 2013-2014 millage rate with the use of $750,000 of the Fund Balance to balance revenues with expenditures.
Washington School Dedicates Garden Sculptures
The students and staff at Washington Elementary School recently dedicated the Washington Garden Sculptures in the school's Butterfly Garden.
Arbor Day Celebration at Markham Elementary School
Students at Markham Elementary School observed Arbor Day on Friday, April 25, by planting a Red Maple tree in the playground area of the school.
Board Approves Revised School Calendar
At the March 17, 2014 School Board meeting, the Board approved the revised school calendar. The last day of school for students is Friday, June 13.

Alcoa Grant Awards JMS for Environmental Focus
Jefferson Middle School was awarded a $15,000 grant by the Alcoa Foundation to support an Environmental Year at JMS.
Mt. Lebanon Schools Honored with Governor’s Award for Excellence in Academics
It was a great day for Mt. Lebanon! Dr. Timothy Steinhauer welcomed Governor Tom Corbett and Acting Secretary of Education Carolyn Dumaresq to the high school today to celebrate the nine Mt. Lebanon Schools that received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Academics.

The 100th Commencement of Mt. Lebanon High School took place indoors tonight because of rain, but the weather didn't dampen the spirits of the graduates and their families. Congratulations to our students and best of luck on their future endeavors.

Mellon Middle School Iron Brigade Team Explores Space
"To Infinity and Beyond" was the theme of the day when the 8th grade Iron Brigade Team at Mellon Middle School launched a space kit tied to a weather balloon that carried a flight computer and GoPro camera to the edge of the atmosphere, 60,000 ft in the air.

Mt. Lebanon High School girls’ basketball coach Dori Oldaker is headed to China this summer to coach the U18 girls’ team in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
